stainless steel terminal
Stainless steel terminal of the EXPERT SE series
The stainless steel terminal of the EXPERT SE series has a cable feed on the underside of the housing, the connections are sunk into a cassette. The EXPERT SE series is only available with aanalog resistive touch panel for easy operation with fingers, gloves, styluses and much more. LCD versions between 15" and 21.5" are available for visualization.
The temperature range of the stainless steel terminal extends from -5°C to 50°C - in addition, from the 17" LCD version, a 400 watt heater including control can be integrated. With the integrated heater the model is expanded to include the deep-freeze version of the stainless steel terminal - the temperature range increases to -30° C to 50° C. The deep-freeze version has continuous control, including a time-optimized warm-up phase (preheating).
The following is a brief overview of the most important features of the EXPERT SE stainless steel terminal series, including all expansion options.
- The cable feed of the stainless steel terminal is from below, the connections are countersunk in the cassette
- The device has protection class IP69 on the front, according to EN60529
- Depending on the selected interface protection, the connection side can also be protected up to IP69
- The analog resistive touchscreen technology can be operated with gloves
- The front foil in front of the glass support of the stainless steel terminal ensures splinter protection
- The default temperature range is -5°C to 50°C
- From a 17" LCD variant, it is possible to obtain a frozen variant. The temperature range here is -30°C to 50°C.
Connection technology on the underside of the stainless steel terminal
All connecting cables of the stainless steel terminal are routed out on the underside of the device. The interfaces and plugs are protected by the internal cassette.
The CPU used in the stainless steel terminal offers all common PC connections with your usual standard plug-in formats.
Cable design with IP69 protection class
When commissioning the stainless steel terminals, the cabling situation very often arises in which pre-assembled cables, such as those from keyboards and scanners, have to be routed through so-called PG screw connections in order to IP69 degree of protection to be achieved. For the user this means: disconnect the connector, run through the cable and solder it.
The loss of warranty after such an action and, above all, the time invested are evaluated differently by the companies.
After running the cables through PG glands, the degree of protection achieved is IP69.
Cable design with IP65 protection class without cable work
As an alternative to the PG screw connection, FORSIS offers a press seal that allows cables with different diameters and pre-assembled plugs to be routed easily and without tools.
Through this way of leading the cabling out of the stainless steel terminal, protection class IP65 is achieved.
Always the perfect visualization with LCD variants up to 21.5"
The stainless steel terminals of the EXPERT SE series are available in different LCD variants.
In 4:3 format, the LCD sizes 15", 17" and 19" are offered. The LCD size 21.5" offers FHD resolution in 16:9 format. The analog resistive touch technology used in this series of stainless steel terminals has splinter protection in the event of breakage due to the front foil in front of the glass carrier.
Fastening and accessories
The consistency of the stainless steel terminals runs through all areas.
This means that the accessory components must also be adapted to the environmental conditions at the respective place of use. The brackets for the stainless steel terminals in their different lengths (pedestal or wall bracket) are also made entirely of stainless steel. Likewise, the star handles to adjust the viewing angle individually at any time.

RFID reader integrated in the connector cover
The stainless steel terminals of the EXPERT series can be equipped with the contactless reading methods: LEGIC© (advant), hitag© or mifare© (DESFire) as required. Of course, the protection class IP65 is retained.
With the stainless steel terminal of the EXPERT SE series, the attachment variant with the installation of the RFID reader in the connector cover on the underside of the device is offered.

Special function keys
There is the option of integrating function keys into the front of the housing of the stainless steel terminal. A maximum of four buttons can be added.
The key features are summarized below:
- Connection by keyboard controller via USB / HID
- Programming by FORSIS Support GUI
- The keys can be freely assigned with all characters and direct program or Windows commands
- Can also be combined with the RFID reader
The stainless steel terminal from FORSIS makes it possible to meet almost all customer requirements with two rows of interfaces. The installation of additional cards or the use of all existing interfaces in the stainless steel terminal enable, for example, the connection of scales, the connection of external scanners and other options.
The stainless steel terminals have protection class IP69 and are extremely resilient.
The trend towards installing stainless steel terminals, which are used as feedback stations in hygiene-sensitive production environments, is moving towards modular and service-friendly mounting systems.
The mounting options for the stainless steel terminals offered by FORSIS are therefore very much in vogue. However, in some cases pivoting systems are required to remove the stainless steel terminal from the food area for cleaning or maintenance. This is where the boom systems and swivel arms made of stainless steel come in handy. In principle, all FORSIS devices from the stainless steel series can be mounted on such brackets - however, the series of stainless steel terminals EXPERT SE is particularly suitable for this, because the top of the device is specially reinforced in this version.
Feel free to let us know your mounting requirements! We are happy to help you at any time.
The very good cleaning options for glass surfaces and at the same time the risk of glass breakage in the food environment are contradictory. This repeatedly leads to the discussion of the extent to which capacitive touch surfaces (multi-touch displays) can be used directly in the food sector.
The standards of DIN EN 1672-2:2009-07 clearly describe what is permitted and what is not permitted.
With the EXPERT SE stainless steel terminal series, we have therefore deliberately opted for the analogue resistive touchscreen, which offers protection against glass splinters in the event of breakage.
